With US becoming in-tolerant to Legal immigration, Australia moving to toughen rules, BNP winning seats in UK, Singapore curtailing immigration, India denying visas and the list continues..
It is clearly the order of the day.. We human beings forgot that it is basic human right to immigrate as recognized by UN. We are on verge of becoming herding animals if not more restricted.
I hope things change. But I think it is going to change by the time most people don't care anymore about immigrating.
I have seen/heard of Indian elite university students declining US offers just to avoid immigration headaches.. My close friends back in India are kind of joking about those waiting in the line just to get the papers filed to move to any other country than India.
This year H1B quota is an eye opener. I think the trend continues next year and year after.
But most of the times, all governments realize about the ground reality only in the end when the damage is made, not when it started.
Such thing can never happen. Also, don't lose hope. Look at how the world was before. Slavery, racism, castiesm, untouchability, intolerance, poverty etc.... it has always been a struggle to navigate through all these barriers and we are still navigating.
Basically the attitude is "when my house is burning why should I accomodate these people" - it is how the world is and we have to navigate.

I guess you are now happier than before. You are close to getting your issue resolved.
No one knows why people who are eligible for AC21 portability are going through this.
When I discussed this issue at my congresswoman's immigration specialist, he asked me why do you think USCIS is doing this? So - basically no one knows.
Many people have said that this is a training issue. maybe it is. We don't know

My DL expring in Sept. filed for 10th year extenison, I live in NY.
NY DL have 2 dates, One in Top with RED Bold letters its called Temp Visa Date and at botton DL exprie date. I have contacted in DMV office. They said I can drive using bottom Exprie date which is exprie in 2010(mine) ,But I cant use the DL as ID if Temp VISA expire on DL.Unless I renew it with approved H1B visa date.So I have to Carry Passport ,recepit copy and Employer lettter with all time just as proof if cop caught me.

This is good information to know. If this is the case, then at least once in a year they have to make all the categories current. May be for September every year so that they do not waste any VISA numbers.
Per country quota is not applicable based on AC21 rule when it is current for every one. This is what happened due to the July visa bulletin fiasco. As they are honouring that bulletin, they are also forced to approve across all country

I think the monday deadline makes sense. See, USCIS said they are going to issue the receipting update every week. Last week's update said, 7/1/2007 for EB cases at Nebraska. How would you think it would look if, after a whole week, USCIS issues another update, with the same date. Embarrassing, Eh?
So, since they have to issue the update on Friday, they put this deadline. However, they probably realize that it's not possible for them to issue receipts of all July 2nd filers by Friday, so, they move the internal deadline to Monday. That's probably the reason they did not issue a receipting update today.

I have a loan with LIC. The rates are pretty good and no-prepayment penalty if paid using NRI funds only. Took some time to set all this up. Definitely need a local person to carry out all the paperwork and good support from the builder. Their email system is not very efficient.
