Stop sending money to parents and in-laws, if its possible. Otherwise, maintain parity by sending money in small amounts to both parents. Its stupid to say my wife is not working so she has no business to send money to her parents. Its so wrong and I'm surprised folks can think like this. Marriage is about sharing and even a child will tell you that. If the in-laws are any sensible they won't accept gifts from the son-in-law but its for them to decide.And stop receiving any gifts from either sides.

Mine is just over a month but won't be clearing for a while since there's lot more cases pending that were filed before me. Can I still email/Call?
They don't seem to be going in any order. Some applications from April was cleared recently where as Feb March is still pending..

You can get NJ DL on reciept and employers letter. Only thing is you need to go to Trenton or other service centers and not in local office. I got it few months back when I was in you situation.

the numbers may be exaggerated, but it doesnot change the facts..
even if we agree that its going to be 500k with 15-20% of them being indians, we still have a long wait ahead of us.
Rather than fighting among ourselves, we should channel our frustration/anger towards the fight for :
adding back unused visa numbers,
increase in GC numbers.
We can express our support to Senator Lofgren or whoever is leading this effort.
While we enjoy the interim benefits, our fight for permanent solution should not be obscured by it.
even if we agree that its going to be 500k with 15-20% of them being indians, we still have a long wait ahead of us.

May be yes....applying greencard is required to extend the H1...having said that one has to spend huge money in applying for GC...at the same time one can also stay out of US for an year and come back if required...
I came to US when I was 24 years old...I delayed the filing and not a day goes by that I donot repent that...My friend are GC holders and bought their houses..I am 30 now..
I think that even at your age..a GC is good to have....It opens up many possibilities....Whatever money you save doing a job...I doubt that you can go back and retire..The prices of everything keep going up in India...One still would need to work....
Even if social security benefits get reduced in US, they would still pay something...In time if you have citizenship you can get whatever you can from that and whatever you saved would make a living...In fact if you donot have a concrete plan of returning in 1 year, file for GC immediately....
When this organization is successful, you would at least have a 485 filed and your spouse can work and they would not throw you out summarily...

I believe that small companies have a big impact too. As someone mentioned, check to see which companies filed GCs in the last 10 years....Infy, TCS or Small body shops?
The notion of H1/L1B is the business not able to find any qualified or willing resource locally. In that case why they are not able/willing to file GC for those guys. Since they want to keep them as slaves...they never file.

I do not see a reason for what they are doing. The Original July VB was in Archived Bulletins as of july 2nd. The revised one is placed in the current visa Bulletins. So why the changes? is there any diference?

I'm wondering how many are still awaiting advanced parole? I am travelling in a months time, and do intend to go for H1 stamping but at the same time expecting my AP to come through before I leave. Whats up with this delay? Anyone else in the same situation? Please respond.

And the situation prior to surge wasnt any better either. I remember in 2006, the PD for India EB3 was April 2001 and now its Nov 2001. :mad:

1. Sen. Cornyn yesterday offered the bridge amendment.
SA 2339. Mr. CORNYN (for himself and Mr. Enzi, Mr. Gregg, Mr. Smith, Mr. Sununu, Mr. Coleman, and Mr. Voinovich) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed to amendment SA 2327 proposed by Mr. Kennedy to the bill H.R. 2669.
The amendment was ruled out of order by the Chair of the Committee, after a Motion by Sen. Durbin (D-IL) and a vote more-or-less on party lines. This is hopefully just a procedural slowdown. HLG is aware that alternative procedural options are still being considered.
The amendment also called for a one-time increase in H1 visas, which seemed to be the reason for the amendment’s defeat.
What you can do.
If anyone lives in these Senators' jurisdictions, please call their offices and thank them for sponsoring the amendment, and encourage them to keep pushing for this amendment.
If you live in the jurisdiction of those who voted against the amendment, please call them and encourage them of the urgent need for foreign trained nurses and PTs. Telephone is the best way to make your voice heard. Here is the link to the Senators' phone numbers and contact info.
